When I first heard about tirzepatide, I thought, "Why not add one more thing to my ever-growing list of weight loss adventures?" I’ve tried everything from spinach smoothies to that one weird trick no doctor wants you to know about—spoiler: it didn’t work. But tirzepatide seemed different, so I decided to take the plunge—literally.
Starting Small: 2.5mg Dose
I kicked things off with the 2.5mg dose. Almost instantly, I felt like I had the appetite of a mouse—a very picky mouse that only eats when it absolutely has to. My fridge was more of a decoration than a functional appliance. Despite the ever increasing sensation of forgetting to eat, the pounds started melting away. The scale was finally moving, and I wasn’t even trying to bribe it with compliments! Lol
Making Progress: Upping the Dose to 5mg
Feeling like I was on a roll, I decided to up the ante to 5mg. I mean, why not keep the momentum going, right? But here’s where things got a bit tricky. The appetite suppression that had been my new best friend started to play hard to get. I've never really had much of an appetite, but I definitely noticed some hunger creeping in which is an odd sensation. Still, the weight loss continued, so I didn’t panic—too much.
Now, about the injections. When I bumped up to 5mg, I also had to switch to a larger syringe. What they didn’t tell me was that this would transform me into a human pin cushion. After each injection, I was left with bruises that looked like I’d been sparring with a heavyweight boxer. I’m talking serious battle scars here—enough to make me consider telling people I took up cage fighting as a new hobby. But hey, no pain, no gain, right? Or in this case, no bruises, no weight loss? The bruise picture below happened from me losing my grip while trying to force the larger needle into my thigh. Well, it was just kind of dangling and wiggling around and I definitely bled more than I'd like to admit. 2 weeks later its still this vibrant.
Exercise Takes a Back Seat
Here’s the kicker: my exercise routine went out the window. Between the low energy and the constant distraction of my new polka-dotted skin, I just couldn’t muster the motivation. And yet, the weight kept coming off. It was like my body didn’t get the memo that I wasn’t burning any extra calories. Not that I’m complaining—if my scale wants to be generous, who am I to argue?
Reflecting on the Experience
Losing 20 pounds in a month has been a wild ride. Sure, I’ve got a few bruises to show for it, and my appetite plays hide and seek sometimes, but the results have been undeniable. My wardrobe is starting to feel roomy, and I’ve even caught myself smiling at the scale (no bribery needed). Tirzepatide has been a game-changer for me, even if it has left me with a few more bruises than I bargained for. The journey has had its ups and downs (and some colorful side effects), but seeing those pounds drop off makes it all worth it. If you’re thinking about trying tirzepatide, just be prepared for a few surprises along the way—and maybe keep a good concealer handy for those injection sites!
Remember, the key is to keep an open mind about it all. After all, weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint—and sometimes, it’s more like an obstacle course. But with tirzepatide, I feel like I’m finally on the right track.
